What you will learn - and why

This course is designed to provide training for the person responsible for installing and setting up the system. It covers software installation, creating a new database, setting up system options, understanding all master tables, establishing new users, and setting up security. The course also covers the accounting interface requirements and importing process.

Upon completion, the attendee should be able to establish a new database that is ready for departmental implementation.

Lecture Titles - Class 1

  • Understanding the benefits of developing an implementation plan
  • Installing Enterprise MSDE
  • Creating a new database
  • Setting up a new database
  • Setting up system options
  • Setting up master tables
  • Setting up new user parameters, password, and preferences
  • Setting up rep (employee) groups

Assignment: Establish an implementation plan using the Implementation Guide. Install the software, create a new database, enter all system options, and set up master tables. Create a new user and review all the fields for a new user rep record.

  • Understanding how to import data
  • How to reverse the effects of an erroneous import
  • Setting up security
  • Understanding the steps required to set up accounting

Assignment: Create a few security groups, and put the new user you created in the first assignment into one of the groups. Review the accounting interface video. Perform an import using your data or the supplied sample TXT file.
